Preparation for life after nursery is of our upmost priority in the Great Oaks.
With primary school just around the corner, it is essential that children are adequately prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.
At Orchardgrove, the educational journey that children have from 8 weeks to school age - and from age 3 to 5 in the Great Oaks - makes this transition smooth and ensures that children are ready for their move to primary school.
Through our use of the Curriculum for Excellence, child-led play and our focus on building independence and life skills, we make sure that your child will continue to thrive at primary school.
The Great Oaks uses the Curriculum for Excellence to plan learning activities and direct children's educational journeys.
The CfE focuses on using play as the main method of learning - adapting to children's strengths and building on areas for growth.
We do this through ongoing observation of your child's progress and development and reinforce their individual unique skills and abilities to make them into capable independent individuals.
We allow children in the Great Oaks to make decisions in their own learning and direct them in how to most effectively channel their own strengths. This helps the children learn to navigate challenging tasks and boost their growth and development.
With capacity for 40 children, the Great Oaks offers a custom built room designed to facilitate creative and constructive play. We provide healthy meals cooked on-site by our in-house cook.
The Great Oaks allows for a wide range of activities including:
Physical play
Construction skills
Role play and creative skills
Information technology skills
Numeracy skills
Literacy skills
All designed to instill confidence and build important lifelong skills in children.
