About Us: The classrooms
Facilities
Orchardgrove nursery comprises of three main playrooms, Kitchen, toilets and two garden areas.
BABY BUDS
Our baby room provides places for up to 12 children aged from 6weeks to walking age (approx 18months).
It provides a nurturing environment where each child's emotional, social and sensory development is encouraged. There is a wide range of play equipment to suit the needs of the children, homely and creative areas and an area for children to sleep.
To assist with ensuring that each child feels happy and secure within the nursery we have a Key Worker scheme to help children settle in, to ensure continuity of care and to facilitate the partnership with parents and carers. Whilst the Key Worker will be principally responsible for the care of the children in their Key Worker Group all other qualified members of staff and trainees assigned to the room will be involved in the day to day care of each child and will be able to provide any information required by parents or carers.
The daily programme is sufficiently flexible to take into account each child's individual requirements.
LITTLE ACORNS
Our Little Acorns Playroom is bright and spacious and caters for up to 25 children from when they start walking (approx.18months) up to age 2 ½ years old.
This room has a variety of activities constantly available to suit the age of the children, such as role play opportunities in the home corner. The children can also use the creative area, book corner, garden and construction areas. The staff work to instil the nursery's golden rules and promote the children's independence.
Again the daily programme is sufficiently flexible to take into account each child's individual requirements.
GREAT OAKS
Our Great Oaks Playroom caters for up to 40 children from 2 ½years to school age.
The open plan room provides flexible accommodation enabling children to enjoy a wide range of activities including physical play, table top games, numeracy and literacy, drawing and colouring, construction, role play opportunities and creative play using a variety of materials such as sand, water and clay. Areas are set up for media and computer equipment and a library of books all of which are used to cover a wide variety of topics which are of interest to the children.
In all, this means that as well as having a lot of fun, the children will also be involved in a lot of activities, covering all the areas of the curriculum, which will help prepare them for starting school.
"The emphasis of our play rooms is fun through play, which in itself is a powerful medium for teaching and learning."
GARDEN AREAS
Children enjoy the regular use of our two secluded garden areas.
One area has a nutural lawn with safety matting and the other area is astroturfed and may be used in all weathers.
TOILET FACILITIES
Child sized toilets and washhand basins are provided in the toilet areas within the Little Acorns and the Great Oaks playrooms. Nappy changing facilities are also available in each playroom area along with potties when required. The nursery has a disabled access toilet on the ground floor.
